A highly successful general meeting was conducted by the MAAEC, Mutual Assistance
Association for Ethiopian Community in Dallas Fort Worth, on Sunday, May 18th 2008 at 4:00 pm at the
Quality Inn Hotel. The agenda of this meeting was the consideration of the draft regulation for DFW
Ethiopians Community Funeral Assistance (ECFA/ Edir). More than 150 people attended the public meeting
to discuss the Edir project.
After more than three hours of an intense discussion on the topic,
the draft regulation for DFW Ethiopians Community Funeral Assistance (Edir) was ratified by a vast majority
of those who attended the general meeting thereby establishing the Ethiopian community EDIr.
The Ethiopian Community
EDIR (ECE) was
established in August 2008 by voluntary Ethiopians/Ethiopian-Americans legally residing in DFW, TX. It is structured as a special unit under the auspices of the MAAEC Inc., designated for a specific purpose in assisting participants-only tocover funeral expenses.
It has its own regulation to run its operations.
